Ok for kingdom alignment I would suggest Neutral, I think given the disposition of our group and the general desire to work with the inhabitants of the area it makes the most sense.
As for Starting hex I would say either the hex where Olegg's Trading post is since it is already on kingdom roads or the hex where the 3 rivers meet as there is already some crude fortification there and water supplies.
As for who takes what role, I think to best address that we need a list of our current NPC's and their skills, as well as a chance to hear everyones views on what they think the pros and cons of each position is and the potential applicants .
I know each of us has an idea of what rolls we would like, but Chris did make a very good point to me, as we will be adventuring we need to be careful that we don't leave the kingdom crippled with our absence. I personally would like the role of High Priest, but we do have an NPC, who would be more readily available and fits the roll, especially given that we also already have a temple to their god. So I really think we need to further discuss and think on the situations.

A better read of the rules tells me as long as you spend 7 days a month performing your duties no vacancy penalty will apply. That being said each PC can only wear 1 leadership "hat" at a time.
