On checking the clearer wording of the SRD it is more apparanet, I think, that a sunder attempt that fials to destroy a weapon actually DOES do damage to the weapon. The confusion for me lay in the wording of what a failed sunder actually was. Therefore, the scimitar wielded by the warforged, while not destroyed, is very badly damaged.

BTW, although it was errataed in the DMG, p. 167? of the PHB correctly states the bonuses that magical enhancements give to hardness and hit points of weapons and armor.

I had also read the rule while sitting at the table. I have to say that i would have ruled it the same way you did. Stupid WotC and their alien language of mrumph! Also I'd like to peition that we now call sunder "DPI" or "EIA". DPI="Destroy Party Income" EIA="Earned Income Attack"

Hawkeye is not in favor of attacks which target treasure or other shiny objects. For the record.

Improved DPI: Lets you do a sunder attempt that does not allow an AoO. Be warned that your party may turn on you.
