Here's something that no rule says you can't do, you know, like back-stabbing someone with a ballista, but always bothered me. "I tuck the Everburning torch into my belt." although an easy answer to wanting to keep a hand free, I don't think this will work as easily as it has in th epast. The torch will tend to get caught between your legs or your many, many weapons, especially when you fight. Torches aren't small! plus it does away with that iconic image of a trepid explorer peering down a long corridor, torch held high in one hand. Tuck 'em in your belt if ya want, but be prepared for me to roll on the critical nut crush table.

I always just figured the "explorer's outfits" or whatever it is D&D characters wear had a spot for something flashlight-esque. Like the tool loops on cargo pants. Or the big side-pockets on cargo pants. OK, OK, I admit it. I always picture my PCs wearing cargo pants. (Squeak gets his from the Old Navy childrens section.)
Or maybe someone should just invent an everburing scabbard? (That'd be a scabbard for an everburning torch, not a scabbard endowed with magical flame. Although that would be cool, too.)

The light spell, or something flaming (or someone for that matter) would be the workaround. Torches are just too large and bulky (but technical matters are easily missed by modern brains). Even sunrods are fairly long, although thinner. I won't tell you what I picture your PC's wearing.

I fall a bit into the thoughts of Chris here. The item is mainly designed for adventurers, and as such I would think there would be a far bit of them designed for ease of carrying.
now if we go with the generic bent to this, the torch is a stick with a continual flame thing on it. Seems logical that you could safely rig some rope arround it and tie it to a belt so it hangs from it.
As this would appear to be a minor issue, i would think it easily solved. There should be a bunch of ideas to solve this, many of which adventueres of the past have already come up with.
Providing the spelld oes not actualy make the torch magical, you could always just screw a hook into it and hang it form a belt.
Or you could widdle a few notches in it to provide good areas to tie a rope and hang it from some part of your body.

the problem there being is it would interfere with combat. Anything hanging loose will. In fact, it's only the fantasy-based aspect of the games we play that allows the carrying of so many weapons favored by some players. "I have a sword, a bastard sword, an axe, a crossbow, 3 pouches, and a dagger on my belt." Go ahead. Try and bend over. I don't want to nit pick things to that level, but torches are going to have to be held, unless you want to risk penalties to combat and move silently rolls.

I've asked this before, but I'll ask it again now that we're looking things up. Can a character CARRY a two-handed weapon in one hand?
(and an EBT in the other, dropping the EBT when s/he needs to use the weapon)
