First aid (Heal check)
DC 15 = stabilization
DC 20 = stabilization plus 1d2 hp
DC 25 = stabilization plus 1d4 hp
DC 30 = stabilization plus 1d6 hp
You choose the DC. Failure means no extra hp gained, but if you beat a 15 you still stabilize the patient.
Short term care
Requires the use of a healer's kit. The patient must be in a complete state of inactivity or rest. The healer and patient provoke an AoO if an opponent moves to within threat range.
Cannot be attempted during the heat of combat unless the healer succeeds at a concentration check (DC 18) and the patient is stabilized. It takes 5 minutes to perform the healing and you may only make the attempt once per day per patient. If the healer takes damage during this time the attempt automatically fails and he must start again. If not in combat, or in combat and the healer makes the DC 18 concentration check, the healer must make a heal check at the desired DC to restore hit points. The healer may take 10 for this check.
DC15 = no extra hp gained
DC20 = 1d4+patients’ CON modifier hp gained
DC25 = 1d6+patients’ CON modifier hp gained
DC30 = 1d8+patients’ CON modifier hp gained
If in combat and the initial concentration check failed, the healer may attempt the action again the following round. If the desired DC is not met, no hit points are gained. If the total of the heal check is 10 or less, the wound is reopened and begins to bleed. The patient takes 1 pt. of damage and is bleeding out again.
Long term care
Requires the use of a healer's kit. The patient must be in a complete state rest. The patient must be in a safe location away from harm for more than a day. The healer may take 10 for this check. A new check may be made each day, but only one check may be made per patient, regardless of how many healers there are.
DC15 = 1 hp per level or 1 ability point per day
DC20 = 2 hp per level or 2 ability point per day
DC25 = 3 hp per level or 3 ability point per day
DC30 = 4 hp per level or 4 ability point per day
If the desired heal check is not made, the patient heals as if the check was a 15.
Wound modifiers
The amount of damage someone takes in a battle can affect the healing DC
Wound Category %Loss of HP Heal DC Modifier
Minor 1-20% +0
Mild 21-40% +1
Moderate 41-60% +2
Severe 61-80% +3
Life-Threatening 81-100% +4
I will also be using these wound categories to describe conditions of monsters and characters
