Zack and I had our first gun battle over my vacation:
Mountain Man Allen Montgomery (Chris) claimed that Farmer Fernando Vasquez (Zack) sold him a bad pig. An argument ensued and the two called each other out. They paced out 20 feet and turned. "Draw!" Montgomery drew his S&W Schofield first, with Vasquez drawing his Colt .45 SAA a second later. Both slingers aimed. Montgomery cocked and fired, but missed high as Vasquez steadied his hand. Vasquez cocked and fired but missed wide. Montgomery cocked and fired but missed even higher as Vasquez again steadied his hand. Montgomery decided to fire deliberately. Vasquez fired again, again missing big. Montgomery fired, again high, and layed down as Vasquez took careful aim. Vasquez fired wide and went prone. Montgomery took careful aim and fired, hitting Vasquez dead in the chest. Vasquez didn't even flinch, but was unable to keep his aim. Montgomery got to his knee as Vasquez re-gained his careful aim. Montgomery stood. Vasquez fired, missing, just as Montgomery began walking toward him, steadying his hand. Vasquez steadied his hand as Montgomery closed the distance to 15 feet. As Vasquez cocked his pistol for another shot, Montgomery fired deliberately, hitting Vasquez dead in the chest a second time. This time Vasquez lost consciousness. Montgomery holstered his pistol and walked away as friends of the farmer dragged him off of Main Street. Vasquez was suffering form internal bleeding which thankfully stopped, nine hours later. Two more hours and he would have died.
There is no record of what happened to the pig.
