Othrik unlimbers the battle axe strapped to his pack. "Fair 'nuff."

You investigate the ruins and discover trails leading in and out of the rubble, going north, south and east. They all converge on a large opening in the center of what was once a building. Here, there is a black hole in the earth with stairs leading down into darkness.

"We can explore this, but let's not forget our true goal."

"Aye, it looks like either way we will need light to go down in there, perhaps we should press on."

"I agree Maedhros" says Sha-gra "But the question is... just exactly where does our goal lie? These days I'm not quite so sure. Does anyone believe this entrance to the underworld could reveal things we seek? I find myself unsure to even answer my own questions."

Who will provide the light, should you decide to enter?

"I have torches we can light. Does anyone have a free hand with which to carry one?"

"I can make a hand available to carry a torch." Shagra, replies in earnest.

Loreli hands Shagra the torch and straps on her shield and draws her sword before proceeding in the search of the area.

Othrik jostles his way to the front of the party near Loreli, axe in had.

Maedhros is more than happy to let Othrik go first (not that he says anything about it). Maedhros spends a lot of time eyeing the walls and floors looking for marks that may indicate traps.

As you head down the stairs you see that the walls are a mixture of stone, brick and the granite bedrock. For the most part the walls are intact, if not a little worse for wear.
Your head down almost 45 feet of stairs before your torchlight illuminates a room some 30’x x30’ with exits to the right and left. There is a large statue in the center of the room, depicting a maleficent looking creature with two large curved horns protruding from its head. In front of the statue on the floor is a small golden bowl. Elsewhere there is a long roughly hewn table with several chairs around it. There are flagons on the table and the smell of stale beer permeates the air. Several piles of hay with blankets on them are lumped against a wall, while a make-shift fire has been set in the middle of the room, giving the entire room a ghastly red glow. There are four creatures in the room. They are diminutive and vicious-looking; with large, bulbous heads, small eyes and skin ranging from drab green to grey. They are wearing leather armor, have shortspears and two are additionally armed with short swords while the other two are armed with maces. Two are asleep, one is drinking deeply out of a flagon and one rolls dice against a wall. None seem to notice you. What do you do?
