This time of year reminds us to consider that for which we are thankful. It is a personal goal of mine to try and reflect on this as often as possible throughout the year. It's easier sometimes than others, but it helps to keep me grounded.
I am thankful my family is well and has come through recent health issues and all are on their way to feeling better. I am thankful for what I can provide those who depend on me. I am thankful for the continued love and support I receive from Mom, Dad and Chad. I am thankful for the ability to be thankful; that is to say to continue to have the faculties with which to think and reason. I am thankful to be so loved. I am thankful that I found my really-and-for-true soul-mate, Candi. The fact that she is so wonderful (as are her parents, Bill and Sharon) is an unexpected bonus blessing! I am thankful to have so many friends with whom to share time and experiences; Dave, Jason, Jay, Jeanette, Jen, John, Michael, Norm; and a cast of NPC's. I am thankful to be able to have the leisure time in my life to play games. This is important to me and for all the rules discussions, scheduling issues, etc. I am continually astounded that what we are able to discuss things we want to do, not things we have to do. How wonderful a position in which to be. I am thankful for two wonderful children, Alex and Zach. They are the reason for everything. I am thankful we are all warm and fed. As with leisure time, this was not always the norm, and in some places is still not. I am thankful to be able to recognize the paradox that is my importance and my insignificance in the grand scheme of things.
A mental exercise I practice is to actively think on these things, and then imagine stripping them away from my life. Then I take stock of what could be and what is. This is, admittedly, a somewhat selfish exercise in that it directly benefits only me. But if it affects my attitude in any positive way, and allows me to smile at a stranger, or let someone in ahead of me in traffic, or forgive someone a slight (real or imagined) maybe I'm also helping the world just a little.
Happy Thanksgiving

That was wonderful, thank you for sharing it. I'm thankful to have all the friends here that I do. I thought when I moved from the city a couple of years ago, that I would be lonely because I really knew no one, but thanks to Chris and Candi, I met all of you and I never forget what friendship means to me.
Sniff. Damn you, Chris, for making me feel emotions before noon!
And at first, I was like, why am I not first on the friend list? Then I noticed you judiciously went in alphabetical order. ;D
Like you, I like to take stock all year, but rather than Thanksgiving, it's the New Year's resolutions that obsess me. Went over them again last night - achieved most of them! Already thinking of my '09 list.... Jen

Christopher, you always amaze me with your wonderful thoughts and the way you are able to express yourself. I should probably put more thought into what I am going to write but here goes - On this the 28th wedding anniversary to my "sole mate" with whom I am still madly in love - I am so thankful that I found him. He has been responsible for such a loving, & positive impact in my son's lives. I am thankful and so very proud of my two wonderful sons, Chad and Christopher (alphabetical order) & what they have achieved so far in their lives. Finding their sole mates, Jenn & Candi, is one of their greatest achievements. I am thankful for 2 of the most amazing & giving people in the whole world - Sharon & Bill. They are the grounding influence that has made it possible for Candi and Chris to raise such wonderful children, Alex & Zack. Thank you, Sharon & Bill. I am thankful that those wonderful grandchildren are so involved in life and all that it has to offer them. I am thankful that I had such a wonderful mother. I believe that she was the grounding influence in my children's lives while I was trying to "find myself." No, Christopher, I was not a Hippy!! I am thankful for the Ciccarelli family. I love them all. Marsy is another one of those wonderful & giving people. I could go on and on but for now that's it. I may come back and add more. Happy Thanksgiving to one and all. Love ya - Mom, Andi Jo, AJ & Nana

I had come up with a much more mathematical ordering system based on numerical weights attached to the names, but abandoned it lest I not complete it before Thanksgiving. That's just how much I care.

Dear Christopher; Yours is a hard act to follow, but I will attempt the impossible as I have been known to do. Some 28 years ago I met the love of my life who is the most beautiful, drop dead gorgeous lovely wife & lady imaginable, who has become my very best friend ever. She brought along with her into my life her lovely Mom by the name of June, two exceptional, smart and talented young sons, Chris & Chad, plus two unique dogs named Shorty & Ginger (who could pee on command just by my saying her name). Since that time my life's happiness, goodness and fortune has increased exponentially beyond my wildest dreams. Along with my lovely daughter Elizabeth, and her two sons Colm & Rhys, plus my good looking globe trotting son Matthew, my life is exceptionally complete. Christopher has introduced Zackary & Alex into this world, and surrounded himself with a loving wife Candi, and her exceptionally loving parents Bill & Sharon. Chad has found the love of his life in Jennifer, who along with the Ciccarelli Clan, completes this circle of life. What more could one ask for than the extended loving family that I have. I am blessed beyond belief, and can & must thank my lucky stars every day that I wake up beside the most wonderful woman in my life. I love you Andrea, Andi Jo, A J. You make my life & world complete.

Well how do I...I mean honestly, why are these things so frikkin' complicated? Tubes? You're joking. Well, I don't care just fix it. What if I just hit this, will it post it or erase it?
