As his name is mentioned in greeting, HoarFrost bows, and keeps a steady hand on his staff.

Sha-gra gazes and admires at the grandure of this most uncommon creature...
"We would be most grateful for information you can pass onto us, we come as friends to those who would help us end this Gnoll's reign of terror over this simple village folk."

The party sees Othrik trace several symbols and mutter under his breath. He makes a satisfied sounding grunt and stands by, watching for trouble from other quarters.

The creature sits back on his haunches. “I am called Nefratel. I am a lammasu. And I am very pleased to meet all of you. Long has it been since I have had a good conversation. Even before I cam to this area some 100 years ago. Many ages ago, before the arrival of man in the world, the towers of Hithel were constructed by the Elves to guard the Tree of Life. This is one such tower. Though none know where the Tree of Life is, it is said that once all the Towers of Hithel are located, the location of the Tree of Life will become apparent. This is not a place where a gnoll would be welcome; or any other creatures of darkness. Those bones on the ground are of long-dead goblins and orcs. They did not find my conversation so pleasant. They call this place Kuthrad Ondal, or the Tower of Waste.
But there is another place. If you follow the Imperial Road some days further into the Fallow Hills, you will find the temple of Baleon Nakt, once a small but active temple of The Horned One. If there is evil in this area, it stems from that place.”

Nefratel bids you stay the night in the tower, under his protection.
Erstdain 7, 1097md
In the morning you find that Nefratel has purified all of your food and has created food for you to eat before you leave.
I am assuming spells are the same. Tell me if they should not be,
You leave the company of Nefratel and head out on the Imperial Road. Four hours into your travel you stumble upon a band of three small creatures. They are scaly humanoids covered with a sparse layer of thin fur. They are thin and wiry and seem filthy and unkempt. All of you but Loreli are caught by surprise in coming upon this group, and it looks like all but one of them is just as surprised. Loreli and one of the creatures gets a surprise round action.

Maedhros is going to draw his pick and shield and attempt to charge the nearest creature, if he can't charge, he will try to flank the group of creatures.

Sha-gra finds himself stumbling about in shock, and then he tries his best to edge away from physical battle...
He chants the soothing words of an old sleeping spell he once learned long ago. He directs the melodic words towards the small scaly humanoids... in hopes he will subdue their anger, and leave them snoozing on soil and soft blades of grass.

Hoarfrost will take up a defensive stance, as close to Sha-gra as possible, protecting the spellcaster.

Othrik will accompany Maedhros as fast as his short legs will allow.
((Standard Melee with Battleaxe please. Spells are the same today.))

Maedhros’ charge attack misses (8 rolled). Hearing the combat, the fleeing creature turns around and advances on Loreli’s flank, attacking her horse, but missing.
Othrik’s charge also misses (8 rolled).
Sha-gra is in no immediate danger so may cast his spell. He reaches down and picks up a handful of sand, and casts sleep behind the creatures. All three fall to the ground, snoring. Loreli makes her save (12 rolled).
Sha-gra knows that you have only 1 minute before the creatures awaken.
What do you do?

"I don't know what manner of creatures these are, but they don't look like they can tell us anything useful. They feel evil to me, unless anyone can offer a good reason for these to live, let's finish them and move on." growls Maedhros as he hefts his weapon for a one armed swing at the nearest creature.

I agree Maedhros... we were attacked by them, and so under the law they should perish for their actions. I believe in mercy for those who deserve it... We have to come banish evil, and so it will be done.

"I do not wish to attack a defenseless opponent, there is no honor in such actions. I will not stop anyone should they wish to act, but I will not lend aid in this. This wretched creature was turning to run from us, until we attacked one of his companions."

I am now assuming that the rest of you finish off the sleeping creatures while Loreli stands by.
You each earn 4 XP.
The rest of your day’s travel is uneventful. Do you make any special plans at night?
