"The walls seem to be the same, this whole room needs to be destroyed."

Bowen already destroyed the altar and one of the candleholders. It is short work to destroy the other one. As the walls are cut into, they bleed and ooze, and it becomes apparent that they are not just covered in organs, they seem to be made from them. You have no means at your disposal to destroy this room, at least from within it.
What do you do next?

"As much as I hate to suggest this, we must search the place for clues as to who or what is behind this, right? Let's search the area around the unholy altar and this evil priestess to find what we can, and be gone from this harrowing evil!"
Casimir begins to grimly search the priestess for any hint of what the heck is going on...

Mischa will begin searching the room as well.

Bec begins the grisly work of searching, using his dagger to avoid touching anything as much as possible.

It takes about 10 minutes to search the room, what remains of the “furniture” and the body. During that time, everyone’s wounds heal from their reserves (except Scar) and Newt’s twisted ankle returns to normal.
On the body is found a small masterwork heavy mace, a small masterwork light crossbow, a small suit of chainmail armor, and three scrolls.
In the southeast corner of the room is found a wooden box, filled with 100 small black candles, flint and steel, and three small leather-bound tomes containing indecipherable writing.
Who takes what, if anything?

"The tomes may lead to a clue if we can ever read them. I say we take those. We should take the weaponry, though I would prefer to sell the bits to give to the townspeople for their suffering and to pay for Anya's burial."
"perhaps we should continue on. This dreaded place begins to wear on me."

You make your way up to the next door. Now Mischa and Newt can see yet another door further up the corridor. Newt searches and listens at the nearest door. Newt says he finds no traps but can hear someone talking beyond the door. He cannot, however, make out what they are saying.
What do you do?

Casimir whispers and gestures at the door...
"Let us take them unawares, so we can rid this place with the stench of evil!"

Bowen nods his agreement, and adjusts his grip on his battleaxe.

Mischa readies her bow and awaits the doors opening.

Newt reaches up and opens the door. Or tries to. It doesn’t open, as if it were locked. The gnome looks embarrassed for a moment, then whispers “locked.”
The gnome whips out a set of lock picks and within a moment, gives a thumbs up.
He opens the door. Bowen’s and Mischa’s lights filter into a large room. The sound of gibbering and squawking can be heard from around the corner, and bits of wood and waste can be seen scattered about. A horrid stench rolls out from the room. You can each take a stanmdadr action in the surprise round.

Casimir pushes ahead to close the distance to the nearest gibbering. Sword drawn, he will attack as soon as possible....

Bowen likewise trudges into the room, crushing the refuse underfoot.
